A SOLAR-POWERED BENCH THAT SPINS EVER SO SLOWLY

Interactive public art installation
NGV, Melbourne Design Week, Australia

Our solar-powered benches harvest sunlight to spin; giving users a new perspective on their urban context through slow rotation. This whimsical motion offers visitors a playful experience to change their perspective on public space and to while away time communing with others and the natural environment.

Shaped like a 60s flower graphic, the aerial view is reminiscent of a plot of flowers oscillating and spinning in the sunshine.

This retro look and feel is combined with contemporary sustainability values – harvesting sunlight through embedded solar panels and including recycled plastic. The benches are made from rotomolded Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE), which is an excellent candidate for recycling.
